Introduction
I've done embroidery since I was 7 years old, and not to tell my age, it's been a very long time since that first apron made in school. I usually work with recycled material, because it is cheap and fun but mostly cheap. I wouldn't do something that would cost me half of it if I bought it in a store. When I start a project, it's to entertain me, to use what I've found at the Salvation Army store outlet or in flee markets, discount stores and what I've been given over the years. Since it doesn't come from a chart or a kit, I have to invent some way to put it to good use with what I've got on hand.
I have to admit, the first kit I got from a store has never been finished. I got bored, it got stained and it still roll up in a box somewhere. I'm not the only one like that. You find something nice, then it becomes more of a chore than a hobby and gets thrown away. I had a hard time finding patterns I would spend hours to make so I started making my own, first with images from colouring books, then from pictures from calendars, books and now TV images from the Web (Farscape of course). |

Avant-proposJ'ai commencé la broderie à sept ans et, sans vous dire mon âge, j'ai plusieurs années d'expérience depuis ce premier tablier brodé sur les bancs d'école. Je travaille surtout avec des matériaux recyclés, soit à l'Armée du Salut ou dernièrement chez Emmaüs, parce que c'est économique et aussi, je ne sais jamais ce que je vais trouver et je dois travailler avec ce que j'ai sous la main, ce qui force mon imagination à travailler d'autant plus.
Je dois admettre que le premier kit de broderie que j'ai commencé n'a jamais été terminé, faute d'intérêt pour un dessin commercial. Je n'aime pas finir ce que les autres ont commencé alors je fais mes propres patrons, soit avec des images de livres à colorier, des photos de calendriers ou de livres et maintenant des illustrations de Farscape prises sur Internet. |
| Farscape is a great source of inspiration for me. The characters look great. They are colourful, set in strange decors and with different outfits, they can give me lots of pleasures for years to come.
